International Poster Option
This unique presentation option was developed by the Steering Committee to provide an opportunity for our international colleagues who are unable to attend due to high travel costs but still desire to present their work as part of the 2nd International Catfish Symposium. While this option is truly a benefit for both the presenter and the symposium attendees as it will encourage participation and submission of work conducted on worldwide catfish populations, it is not anticipated to reduce attendance or the ability of the symposium organizer to provide a quality meeting. Although the registration fee for an International Poster presenter may be slightly reduced from someone attending the symposium in person, it will still include the costs to cover pages charges for a manuscript submission and shipping and handling expenses for a poster submission.
If you are working on populations outside continental North America and wish to present your findings at the 2nd International Catfish Symposium but are unable to attend due to funding limitations or travel restrictions, we encourage you to contact a member of the Program Committee (Tom Kwak tkwak@ncsu.edu or Mark Porath mark.porath@nebraska.gov) to discuss your eligibility for this option.
Submitting a presentation under the International Poster Option
1) All international poster option presenters must assemble an abstract formatted as a Microsoft Word Document (.doc or .docx) in Times New Roman size 12 font (see example below). The abstract should begin by listing all authors, their affiliations, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses and indicating which author is presenting. A brief but descriptive title should be followed by a summary of your finding and limited to 250 words (body text). The use of special characters in the abstract should be avoided if possible, but if necessary should be accompanied by a textual explanation.
2) Abstracts must be submitted electronically via email to both Program Committee Co-chairs (Tom Kwak tkwak@ncsu.edu and Mark Porath mark.porath@nebraska.gov), with “International Poster Option” in the subject heading.
3) Authors must indicate in their email to the Program Co-chairs whether they intend to have a manuscript of their international poster option presentation be considered for publication in the symposium proceedings.
4) The deadline for abstract submission for the International Poster Opton is APRIL 1, 2010.

Title: An example abstract for the 2nd International Catfish Symposium
Abstract: Abstracts are used by the Program Committee to evaluate and select papers for inclusion in the oral and poster sessions of the 2nd International Catfish Symposium. An informative abstract contains a statement of the problem and its significance, study objectives, principal findings and application, and it conforms to the prescribed format of 250 words. There should be no paragraph breaks in your abstract and special characters should be avoided unless necessary. Please use Times New Roman font in size 12 when preparing your abstract.
Following your abstract submission:
You will receive an email confirming receipt of your submission from one or both Program Committee Co-chairs. If you do not receive confirmation within 72 hours from either Mark or Tom it will be your responsibility to initiate follow up communication by an additional email or contacting via phone (This is a quality control measure in case of electronic transmission failure: Mark’s phone is 402-471-7651 & Tom’s is 919-513-2696).
Authors indicating their intention to submit a manuscript when they emailed an abstract to the Program Co-chairs will be directed to the Submit a Manuscript page in the confirmation email. The deadline for manuscript submission is JUNE 1, 2010.
The Program Committee will review all International Poster Option abstract submissions and will notify authors of acceptance into the programs no later than March 15, 2010. Final instructions on delivery and financial arrangements pertaining to the authors symposium products will be included in this notification email and a reply acknowledging acceptance of these conditions will be required.
Acceptance into the program and or proceedings of the Symposium will be conditional upon a paid registration.
Authors will be responsible for getting their poster presentations printed and shipped to the symposium location by June 11th, 2010.
