Submit an Abstract

Steps for submitting a presentation

1)    All presenters must assemble an abstract formatted as a Microsoft  Word Document (.doc or .docx) in Times New Roman size 12 font (see example below).  The abstract should begin by listing all authors, their affiliations, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses and indicating which author is presenting.  A brief but descriptive title should be followed by a summary of your findings and limited to 250 words (body text).  The use of special characters in the abstract should be avoided if possible, but if necessary should be accompanied by a textual explanation.

2)    Abstracts must be submitted electronically via email to both Program Committee Co-chairs (Tom Kwak, tkwak@ncsu.edu and Mark Porath, mark.porath@nebraska.gov), with “Catfish 2010 Program” in the subject heading.  The deadline for abstract submission is APRIL 1, 2010.

3)    Authors must indicate in their email to the Program Co-chairs whether they are submitting: 1) an oral presentation, 2) a poster presentation, 3) or an oral preferred but poster acceptable presentation.

4)    Authors must also indicate in their email to the Program Co-chairs whether they intend to have a manuscript of their presentation be considered for publication in the symposium proceedings.

5)    Authors must also indicate in their email to the Program Co-chairs whether they intend to have their work presented under the International Poster Option.  Please refer to the International Poster Option page for details on qualification requirements and submission procedures.

Abstract: Abstracts are used by the Program Committee to evaluate and select papers for inclusion in the oral and poster sessions of the 2nd International Catfish Symposium.  An informative abstract contains a statement of the problem and its significance, study objectives, principal findings and application, and it conforms to the prescribed format of 250 words.  There should be no paragraph breaks in your abstract and special characters should be avoided unless necessary.  Please use Times New Roman font in size 12 when preparing your abstract.

Following your abstract submission:

You will receive an email confirming receipt of your submission from one or both Program Committee Co-chairs.  If you do not receive confirmation within 72 hours from either Mark or Tom it will be your responsibility to initiate follow up communication by an additional email or contacting via phone (This is a quality control measure in case of electronic transmission failure: Mark’s phone is 402-471-7651 & Tom’s is 919-513-2696).

Authors indicating their intention to submit a manuscript when they emailed an abstract to the Program Co-chairs will be directed to the Submit a Manuscript page in the confirmation email.  The deadline for manuscript submission is June 1, 2010.  (Please don't forget: All authors submitting a manuscript must have submitted an abstract on April 1, 2010.)

Authors indicating their intention to submit a poster under the International Poster Option when they emailed an abstract to the Program Co-chairs will be directed to the International Poster Option page in the confirmation email for further instructions.
